Freshman, Christian Minto, placed 3rd out of 132 wrestlers in the 126 lb. weight class at the Florida State Finals in Kissimmee this past weekend. Christian is the first freshman in school history to qualify for the state tournament and place. He finishes the year with a 49-3 record.
Senior, Keaton Koselke, won his first match in the tournament at 145lbs. He then wrestled the returning state champion in the second match and lost a close decision by the score of 5-3. Keaton cracked his ankle in that match and hobbled into his wrestle back. He won his first wrestle back match by pinning his opponent but then dropped another close match on his second wrestle back match 5-4 thus eliminating him from a top 6 placing. Keaton ended his career with a 47-3 record this season givings him 167 wins in his 4 yr. career at Mariner which is a new school record!
Congratulations to both wrestlers who represented Mariner High with ultimate class, toughness and sportsmanship, win or lose. Coach Phillips
